It can be easy to forget why you are trying to lose weight. Although it started as a fun adventure, it can quickly become tedious and difficult to see the progress you have made. What can you do to make yourself as motivated as others you see around you? What factors are keeping them motivated and successful?
When you have decided to lose weight, the first step is to identify your specific goals. Would you enjoy feeling great in your clothes again or, better yet, shopping for new clothes that are several sizes smaller then your current size? What are your weight loss goals? Is being healthy, strong, energized and confident essential to you?
A great way to stay on top of your progress is to make a graph. Weigh yourself once a week and keep a record of everything you eat. This will help you to stay on course. Keeping a food diary will inspire you to eat a healthier diet.
If you are hungry, you will tend to choose your foods impulsively. You will not think about healthy choices, in fact, you are more likely to crave high calorie foods. Avoid this by having snacks on hand and make time for your meals. In order to ensure that you do not have to get take-out, pack a meal with you. You’ll spend less on food, and probably eat fewer calories as well.
If losing weight is really important to you, then you need to focus on both diet and activity. To maintain your motivation level, you need to select physical activities that you enjoy doing as part of your exercise plan. Here are some great options: Take a dance class! Join a sports team! Join a hiking club! Get into power walking! Swim or jog with a friend! Make sure you are creative with your exercise endeavors.
Removing all of the junk food from your place is probably the best thing that you can do at this point. If you have an ample amount of healthful choices on hand, the temptation to reach for junk food will diminish. Get rid of all the unhealthy foods right now, so you can’t possibly reach for them.
Have your friends help you meet your goals. It is important to have someone that motivates you to lose weight. When you can’t find the motivation to keep going, having supportive friends will help you to carry on.
